LRA Coaching Committee
Mission Statement:
To ensure London Ringette participants benefit from qualified and capable bench staff.
Structure:
The Committee is comprised of the coordinator and no less than six additional members.
Members need not be part of the LRA Executive Board but must have a player registered within London Ringette or be an active volunteer within the organization.
The Committee serves one year terms effective from the
conclusion of the AGM. The Committee
and the Coaching Coordinator is approved by the board of directors at its May
meeting. The Coaching Committee reports to the LRA Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
The Coaching Committee will ensure, with the benefit of current and available information, that:
- all London Ringette volunteers are certified for the bench position held;
- all code of conduct agreements and Police security checks are current;
- select Head Coaches from qualified applicants;
- applicants for support positions are made available to Head coaches;
- Provincial team evaluations and tryouts are coordinated;
- Convenors are in place for all Regional divisions;
- Convenors and Head Coaches are provided assistance with Regional team tryouts and team assignments;
- to the greatest extent possible all coaches and bench staff have access to clinics, seminars and local resources;
- Coaching Committee members are available to assist with coaches questions and concerns throughout the playing season;
- written complaints or concerns involving our coaches, managers and trainers are acted upon.
Complaint procedure:
The committee will only act on written complaints and concerns submitted to the Coaching Coordinator or his / her designate, following at least 24 hours from the incident, and a reasonable period following the alleged incident. In the absence of the Coaching Coordinator the President will act as coordinator. If he/she is also unavailable any member can accept and document the complaint until such time the complaint can be acted upon.
Any committee member with a perceived conflict of interest in any alleged occurrence shall abstain from the inquiry.
The division Convenor may attend to any meeting at the discretion of the Coaching Coordinator in a non-voting capacity.
At least three (3) members of the Coaching Committee shall be assigned to meet with both the complainant and the volunteer involved.
All such meetings shall be documented entirely.
Results/
Penalties:
The Coaching Committee shall review and discuss all findings and recommend appropriate action to the Board of Directors.
Actions:
- Complaint not warranted: no further action required;
- Complaint of some concern: discussion of event sufficient;
- Complaint of concern: warning issued , serious and damaging behaviour confirmed; next steps to be determined by the Coaching Committee on a case by case basis.
Note: two warnings within one season will result in suspension for a period of one to three (3) games, in the discretion of the Coaching Committee.
The results of any complaint procedure will be communicated to both parties immediately upon resolution. All information, documents writings and representations are kept confidential by the LRA.
A record of all inquiries will be kept on file and can be considered when selecting coaches in subsequent years.
Appeals:
Coaches can appeal
the Coaches Committee’s decision to the LRA Executive Committee (President/Vice
President/Treasurer/Secretary/ Past President).
Any appeal by a
coach of any warning issued by the Coaching Committee shall be made by e-mail
or writing to the LRA President within seven (7) days of the warning being
issued. The notice of appeal shall
concisely detail the nature of the appeal.
The LRA Executive Committee have fourteen (14) days to rule on such
appeal and provide notice to all interested parties. The standing of the appellant coach shall be determined by the
LRA Executive Committee.
1. The Committee shall:
a) Hear and determine all protests and appeals;
b) Recommend
suspension or expulsion of a team or player or other official connected with a
team for just cause in the best interest of the Corporation;
c) Set the
rules and procedures governing all protests and appeals.

3. The decision of the Protests and Appeals
committee is final.
Any decisions made
by any tournament governing body is binding on the Coaching Committee and may
be considered by the coaching committee in regard to the coaches standing with
LRA.
