London Lynx Ringette Association – Position Available

REFEREE-IN-CHIEF – Job Description

London Ringette Association requires a Referee-in-Chief for the 2009-2010 Ringette season.  The Referee-in-Chief is not required to be a Referee and may conduct the scheduling duties and arrange for other qualified officials to conduct the Supervisory responsibilities.

The Referee-in-Chief is responsible for assisting Western Region’s Officiating Chair with contacting London officials for scheduling referees and shot clock operators for all home League games; arranging clinics for developing and training referees; and preparing statement of games officiated for the Treasurer for payment to officials.

The Referee-in-Chief schedules for home games for Western Region Ringette League which B and C teams play in (formerly Talbot Trails and Huron Perth Ringette Leagues)  Western Ontario Ringette League (WORL) which A/AA teams play in.  The Referee-in-Chief can also if he/she chooses, schedule for Open (Ladies) games for London Open Ringette through the Central Ontario Ringette League (CORL) and South Western Intermediate Ringette League (SWIRL).

This position requires that the individual be available from September to April.   The busier months are September, December, January and February as these are the times when schedules must be prepared and forwarded to officials.   The balance of the time is dedicated to contacting officials to confirm game assignments, preparing statement of games officiated and other requests that may be asked from Executive members from time to time.

Other requirements are computer access to e-mail and voice mail.  This season the Referee-In-Chief utilized Webreferee.net website which permitted officials to self assign games and makes payments easier.  Continued use of this is recommended.  LRA pays a fee of $1 per game to the Referee Scheduler.  The Referee-in-Chief reports to the President and is not required to attend meetings but is welcome at all Executive meetings.
