London 2 Petite Provincial Davis Martindale Team
Makes the "A" ** Grade
London Petite B Davis Martindale team played 14 games from the season start until November 11/2007. During that time, the team posted 14 wins, racked up 152 goals for and only 25 goals against. They captured the gold at both the Goderich Ringette Tournament in October and the London Lynx Ringette Tournament in November.
In order to further the players' development in the sport of Ringette and to provide them with competitive play for the remainder of the season, the team was bumped to Petite "A" **. This was quite something, given that London already hosts a Petite Provincial team.
The team is made up of players Emma Atchison, Mackenzie Baker, Andrea Barker, Melissa Evans, Natalie Evans, Kaylee Flynn, Megan Frampton, Thalia Katsademas, Kristen Martin, Colleen Murphy, Meghan Rose, Stephanie Singeris, and goalie, Karlee Sutton. The girls have proven that A is where they belong.
They had to rush to play in the Dorchester tournament in early December, at that point only ever having played three games against Petite Provincial teams. The team posted 1 win, 1 tie and 1 loss in that tournament. In the Cambridge tournament at the beginning of January, the team finished 3rd in their pool of 5 teams, and 9th out of 15 teams before the play-offs. They beat Newmarket 5-3; and Kitchener 4-3. They lost to Mississauga 4-2 and to Chatham 6 -2. Elora-Fergus, the 8th placed team, edged them out at the beginning round of the play-offs beating them 3-2 in a game that could have gone either way. With games this close, it is obvious these players make the A grade. Although it is true, as one player stated, "There is more pressure in A". I think the coaching staff would agree with that!
(** I've referred to it as Petite A because everyone understands that term, but Petite teams this year are not ranked as A or AA and remain "Provincial" teams throughout the season.)
